INTRODUCING THE HOMRA KILN

There is a little more to drying firewood than having a room filled with hot air. To dry firewood to a high standard you require a controlled environment. Our kiln is run by the latest German software which controls the air temperature, its humidity and the airs velocity. This enables us to produce uniformly dried firewood throughout each batch. We have created bespoke drying schedules for different wood species as they all dry at different rates, unique for firewood drying.

A typical batch weights 30,000 kg and the kiln has to exhaust a staggering 6000 litres of water in the form of steam each cycle. The wood looses up to 28% of its original volume in shrinkage.
